about Eithne Kenny

Handmade Fine Silver Jewellery, made with .999 fine silver and using .925 sterling silver findings. From Headford in Co. Galway, Eithne Kenny is a former mechanical engineer, passionate crafter and mother of two. She takes her inspiration from various sources including the beauty of the rural landscape she grew up in (a landscape featuring bogs and stone-walled open fields merging seamlessly under vast, open skies) and Celtic mythology.

She loves the sea and this theme can also be seen in her work. She finds the fine detail required very satisfying and hopes it resonates with her customers.

Eithne’s handcrafted fine silver jewellery is created from precious metal clay (coming from recycled silver), which is carefully moulded and shaped by hand, refined and then fired in a kiln, before being burnished and polished to perfection. The pieces are oxidized and given a final polish to highlight the details, before the finished items are then hung on sterling silver chains, ear wires, etc.

The Black River forms part of the border between counties Galway and Mayo. It flows beside the Black River Silver studio and Ross Errilly Friary, which can also be seen from the studio and provides inspiration.
